CookstownCash Continues to Expand, Brings Top Curlers to Town.

The World Curling Tour is coming to Cookstown. In the 3rd year of the CookstownCash presented by COMCO Canada Inc. the World’s top curlers will be competing for nearly $30,000.00 in prize money at the Cookstown and Alliston Curling Clubs.

The event is scheduled for November 6-9, 2014 and will be hosted in Cookstown and Alliston.

“It is the first time we’ve done something like this. It’s the first this area has ever seen.” Says Dale Matchett, Co-Chairman of the CookstownCash.

The event has grown in its first year from 20 mens teams, to what will be 30 mens teams and 12 womens teams in the third year of the event.

“We have tremendous support from area businesses to make this happen. Never has the World Curling Tour been here. Olympians will be here in November.”

Confirmed in the event is World Ranked #10 John Epping as well as several Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials participants including Mark Kean, Brent Ross, and Joe Frans. US Olympic representatives Craig Brown and Chris Plys are coming, and so are former World Champions Peter Corner, Graeme McCarrel, Jane Hooper-Perroud, and Marilyn Bodogh.

Admission is free to the Cookstown and Alliston Curling Clubs for the event.
