The Port Elgin Superspiel is currently at 19 teams and hoping to get to 24 for this year's event. One of the better events in Ontario, they've moved to the fall season to make it a little easier to plan for.

One other thing that makes this event so great is the amazing sponsorship this event always seems to get. For anyone who's forgot, here's this year's payout structure:

Here's the purse breakdown. Six qualifiers with 2 byes to the semis decided by the 2 best shootout scores from the 3 a side qualifiers. Third a side qualifier will drop to a quarterfinal.

Pay Per Win for all games, Qualifying teams will earn $650 in total pay per win as well as whatever they win in the Championship round:

Champion - $5000
Runner up - $2500
Semi Losers - $1200
Quarter Losers - $500

Consolation Winner $700
Consolation Runner Up $350

Superspiel Shootout - $600
Since we will need a shootout to set the champ. bracket (due to 3 A side qualifiers) we have decided to have all teams participate and the winner will take home $600. Shootout will be a 4 rock draw to the button with the lowest total distance taking the cash and will take place after each teams second game.

Congrats to Superspiel 31 Champions Len Rominger, Ron Russell, Bill Hall and Chris Dion who beat Al Hutchinson 5-4 in a close fought championship final.

Also congrats to James Pope, Chris Newton, Evan Martin and Murray Trask who won the Superspiel Shootout with a four rock total distance to pin of 57 cm.

The Superspiel Committee would like to thank the all the teams for joining us for Superspiel 31 as well as all our local sponsors for continuing to support Superspiel. The constant support of these community sponsors makes Superspiel the great weekend it is.
